India Vs Sri Lanka, 2nd test: Raina scores ton on debut
Suresh Raina kept his cool to post a brilliant century on debut in the second test against Sri Lanka in Colombo. He reached his ton just before lunch and brought it up in style with a punch straight down the ground.
Raina came in with India in a spot of bother, having lost Sehwag, Dravid, Vijay and Laxman in quick sucession. However Raina, along with Sachin Tendulkar, steadied the ship and got India back on track.
Raina has been critised for his inability to counter short pitched bowling, and many teams have exploited this weakness in the recent past. Sri Lanka too tried to ruffle him with short deliveries, but Raina stood tall and survived a testing session from Fernando just before lunch.
India are now in a much more comfortable position at 4/488. Sachin Tendulkar also added to his overnight ton, he currently has 159 to his name. Raina meanwhile is on 116.
Its been hard going for the bowlers in this match and the spinners in particular have had to endure long spells without much success.
