6.2 magnitude earthquake in Costa Rica
A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 on the time scale, took place in Costa Rica, at 16.16 local time, according to the American Geophysical Institute (USGS), reported AFP.
There were no reported casualties or damage and no tsunami alert was not triggered .
USGS, which originally informed that it was a 6.3 magnitude earthquake , said the epicenter was located 67 km south-southeast of the capital San Jose.
To measure the strength of an earthquake, USGS uses the “moment magnitude (Mw). On this scale, an earthquake reaching a magnitude of at least 6, is considered a strong earthquake, recorded the same source.
