California Bus Accident - 6 killed, 34 hurt
Six people were killed and almost 34 were injured in a very serious bus accident in Fresno, California. There were a Greyhound bus and two other vehicles involved in the crash on northbound California Highway 99, the California Highway Patrol said.
“We’re still trying to piece everything together,” highway patrol spokesman Officer Kirk Arnold told reporters.
Taxi driver Mike Coupland saw the whole crash happening as an SUV was on its side in the highway – “no lights, no nothing.” The bus didn’t have time to avoid striking the SUV.
The crash was “like a bomb going off. Just pieces and parts everywhere. It was terrible.” Coupland said.
There were six dead bodies – four women and two men – included the bus driver. The bus was going from Los Angeles to Sacramento with 47 people on board plus the driver, Arnold said.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. “It’s going to be a lengthy process,” officer Kirk stated.
