Italian Gianni Versace fashion house receives a compensation of 20 million dollars
The Italian fashion house Versace has received a compensation of 20 million dollars, after the Court in Los Angeles ruled in their favour ,related to the trial in 2003 against a number of 110 people who facilitated the sale of counterfeit products under the Versace logo.
The amount is the largest yet received by an Italian company defending its copyright.
In the process, whose key witness was Santo Versace, brother of the founder of the fashion house, have been involved over 70 stores that sold fake products.
House of Versace, which was founded in 1978 by Gianni Versace recorded last year a profit of 359.6 million dollars, writes Reuters.
However, in 2009, the company reduced the number of the staff quarter, blaming this on the decline in market demand of luxury goods and products signed by the designer.
