50 years of fashion in New York
Metropolitan Museum in New York celebrates the evolution of fashion in the U.S. through a new exhibition, announced Tuesday.
The purpose of the exhibition of costumes, entitled “American Women: Fashion constructing a national identity”, is to make a review of the past five decades of women’s fashion, examining how femininity, style, social and sexual emancipation were reflected in clothing .
Exhibition presents clothes from 1940 until the end of ‘80. Exhibition curator Andrew Bolton stated that many of the exhibited objects are part of the collection of costumes from the Brooklyn Museum.
Designers such as Lanvin and Chanel are present in this exhibition, which can be accessed by the end of August.
