Florida Election 2010 Results: Kendrick Meek Defeats Jeff Greene

Florida Election 2010 Results

Kendrick Meek succeeded to defeat real estate businessman Jeff Greene in Florida’s Democratic Senate primary, now going on to a general election fight with Republican Marco Rubio and Independent Charlie Crist in November.

Kendrick accused Greene of being a “bad man” who earned his fortune on the backs of the working class as Greene actually speculated the mortgage market would collapse.

Jeff Greene responded by calling the congressman corrupt and accusing his mother to have got money and a Cadillac Escalade from a developer seeking federal money for a project.

“I’m encouraged by the numbers that we see right now, that we’re even being considered after $26 million. Usually it goes to the guy that runs the most television commercials, putting the mail in the most mailboxes. In this case people are looking at the grass-roots campaign we’ve run in the last year-and-a-half,” Meek said.

Greene also commented on recent polls that show him trailing.

“The polls, they’re up and they’re down every day. I think last week we were up 8, then the next day we were down 14,” Greene said.

“Look, this campaign has been embraced by the people of Florida since the day I got into this campaign because I offer a clear choice: more of the same politicians who have failed us or me.”
