Strasburg may go for Tommy John surgery
The news has spread in the market that the pitching phenom in baseball may go for a Tommy John surgery has really made many baseball fans sad and disheartened. His wonderful 14 strike out debut for the Nationals in the month of June has raised many eyebrows as the performance surpassed all previous expectations.
The Nationals have announced on Friday that a resonance imaging test showed that a major tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in the pitching arm. They have decided to go for a second opinion and if that is confirmed, there is no option but to go for Tommy John surgery. Doctors are saying it will take 12 to 18 months to get recovery from the operation. He will take another season to return to his original form. This great star was heading for superstardom when the news of this operation has really made the baseball fans disheartened.
But the optimistic side of the story is that all the pitchers who have gone for this surgery have regained their form quite fast. Records show that nine of the pitchers who have been selected for the 2010 all star game have gone for this surgery.
His pain started while playing the Saturday’s game against Philadelphia when he throw a changeup and grabbed his right arm in pain. Now all the baseball fans will definitely miss him on the field for quite some time and everybody is praying that if he has to go for the Tommy John surgery, let me get cured fast and come back soon on the field with his original form.
