‘Empire Falls’,Newman’s last film
Miniseries “Empire Falls, has in its distribution the well known actor Paul Newman and his wife, Joanne Woodward.
“Empire Falls”, directed by Fred Schepisi , Ed Harris, Helen Hunt, Robin Wright, Paul Newman, Aidan Quinn and Joanne Woodward, is a film version of a best-seller by Richard Russo, winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 2002.
This production, made by HBO movie in 2005, won two Golden Globe Awards: Best Miniseries and Best Film Male Actor, award given to Paul Newman.
“Empire Falls” follows life of Miles Roby (Ed Harris), a manager for over 20 years of restaurant Empire Grill, who has to solve his father’s problems - Max (Paul Newman), a lover of alcohol, and his brother, David (Aidan Quinn), involved in marijuana trafficking.
Also, Miles has to fight the influence of Mrs. Whiting(Joanne Woodward) who has full control in the city.
Paul Newman died in 2008 of lung cancer at 83 years old.
