Google Image Search gets a facelift
Google has revamped its image search results page providing a lot more results in one page and also enhancing navigation. The changes – which make the site look a lot like rival Bing- came into effect today and also incorporate image into advertising.
The changes make it easier to get to the location of the actual image and also show a thumbnail of an image when users hover their mouse over it.
The result pages are also displayed continously one after the other, instead of the old feature where users had to click on a number at the bottom of the screen.
The new page looks like this:
The new layout is only available on google.com at the moment. However Google confirmed through their blog that they plan to roll out the changes across all sites.
Google are also launching a new advertisement format that is specific to image search. “And for our advertisers, we’re launching a new ad format called Image Search Ads. These ads appear only on Google Images, and they let you include a thumbnail image alongside your lines of text”, Google Images Product Manager Nate Smith said.
