The first robot-priest to marry a Japanese couple
For the first time in history, a wedding was officiated by a robot, Reuters relates.
I-Fairy robot is normally used in museums and technical exhibitions to guide visitors, but it was rescheduled to officiate a wedding.
The young Japanese have chosen this novel way to get married because they met through Fairy robots, while the groom was a client of the Kokoro company, producing Fairy robots and also the company where his newly spouse was working.
“Robots are the reason we started to go out together and as suggested by my wife, we decided to try such a wedding,” said Tomohiro Shibata.
Company representatives say that robots are usually purchased to help museum visitors, but that they could be scheduled to celebrate marriages as well, if the idea of two young married couples will be successful.
