Bone turnover connection with diabetes

human body

A research in US says, “The Skelton of human body has a key role in regulating blood sugar and cause diabetes in some people.”

They found that the breakdown of old bones to new bones help in maintaining glucose at a required level in human body.

A hormone named as osteocalcin helps to make new bone at place of breakdown of old bones. Dr Gerard Karsenty, working in Columbia University Medical Center had already done work on osteocalcin. This hormone comes out from bone at the time of breakdown and regulates glucose levels in our body.

Basically osteocalcin helps our body to start production of insulin in pancreas which improves performance of other cells to take in glucose from the blood.

After a new research scientist concluded that this hormone named osteocalcin work properly after reconstruction of old bones. This helps to keep the glucose at acceptable labels in human body.
