Toyota recalls 412,000 cars in U.S

Toyota Motor Corp. says, it would recall 412,000 high-end customer cars in the United States to fix steering troubles.

Toyota, has conducted a series of recalls this year, will recall 373,000 of its 2000-2004 model year Avalon sedans as the steering lock bar in these vehicles possibly will break under certain circumstances, it said in a statement.

A Toyota spokesman said, Toyota has received reports of three accidents relating to the Avalon models subject to the recall although there were no injuries reported.

He says, it is not actually clear if those three accidents are connected to the possible defect that Toyota is now trying to fix.

Till now, there have been no reports of accidents relating to the LX470 models subject to the recall, Toyota said.
