Loss in Q3 for BA
British Airways the national carrier of the UK on Friday announced a pre-tax loss of 164 million pounds ($256.5 million) for the second quarter ending June 30.
Willie Walsh, the airline’s chief executive, marked reasons for the loss to be the strikes by BA cabin crews and closures from the Icelandic volcano.
Flights to and from the United Kingdom were grounded for several days amid concerns over safety due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland in last April.
Adding to the woes were a Cabin crew staff who walked off the job in series of strikes during the quarter over pay and working conditions-it’s yet to reach a solution.
