Microsoft shows rise in profit in Q2
Driven by strong sales Microsoft added to the recovery in the technology sector when reporting quarterly profit. The software giant edged Apple with a 22% rise in revenues to $16bn (£10.5bn) until the end of June.
During the quarter operating profits jumped 49% to $5.9bn. Microsoft’s shares rose up nearly 3% in after-hours trading. Unfortunately the company is still heavily reliant on its Windows operating system and Office suite.
Their years of huge investment in online services and computer gaming is yet to pay-off. Windows 7 and Office 10 had driven Microsoft’s performance. Other products of the company are yet to become major contributors to their revenues.
