It’s a third-generation Kindle which is lighter, smaller and quicker than the current model with an excellent display, longer battery life and twice the storage area.
Amazon (AMZN) has added Wi-Fi function for those who would like to apply a speedy Internet service to download e-books. This Kindle will maintain the free service that uses AT&T’s wireless network to download a book in within a minute.
The model, which is all set for shipping on Aug. 27, will cost $189, same as the current Kindle.That’s about $10 lower than the least-expensive versions of Barnes & Noble’s Nook as well as the Sony Reader.
At these prices, “People are going to buy multiple Kindles for the household,” CEO Jeff Bezos said. “Remember: 33 months ago, Kindle was $399.”
