NASA: 2010 the hottest year in history
NASA scientist warned that 2010 could be the hottest year in history, with the highest average of global temperatures in the last 130 years.
“It was a cold winter in Europe, but overall, the period from January to March was one of the hottest seven beginnings of yeas. There is a 50% chance that this will be the warmest year ever recorded” said Vicky Pope, climate change director from Met Office.
Climate change is suspected cause for this phenomenon. Research shows that warming is also linked to a temporary change of currents in the Pacific, known as El Nino, which caused the ocean to release large quantities of heat in the atmosphere.
