Australia expels Israeli diplomat over Mabhuh assassination
Australian government expelled an Israeli envoy involved in fake passports scandal. Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith said that investigations undertaken have confirmed the Israeli diplomat’s hand in forging Australian passports.
The passports were used in the killing of Mahmoud al- Mabhouh, one of the founding members of Hamas, on January 20 in the United Arab Emirates.
The name of the Israeli diplomat who has to leave the country within a week is undisclosed by the government.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry, in a statement has said that it “regretted the decision” of Australia which did not concur with the quality of their relationship.
