Fuel-Economy Standards Head to Medium-Duty Pickups
Do you find yourself totally confused will buying a truck. The main reason for confusing will normally be the fuel-economy ratings for medium-duty vehicles. Say you will always be in a dilemma to go for F-250 or a Chevrolet Silverdo 2500.
Well theres a good news, the Environmental Protection Agency now provides figures for cars and light-duty trucks but does not regulate or measure the fuel consumption (or emissions) for larger trucks.
Fortunately that may not be the case forever, though. President Barack Obama has said that “he wants the Transportation Department and the EPA to establish the first-ever standards for medium and heavy-duty trucks by 2014″.
The reason behind this plan is, the vehicles in question consume around 20 million barrels of oil per year and on an average around 6.1 mpg.
Not Only this, the trucks are even responsible for around 20 percent of America’s greenhouse gas emissions. Needless to say, its time for a change
