Ferry accident in New York
According to CNN, 55 people were injured in the accident that took place on Saturday in New York, where a ferry hit the terminal in Staten Island.
At least one person was seriously injured after the ferry accident in New York, which announced a system failure that caused the stop and wounded at least 55 people.
On the scene, 37 people received medical care, and 18 people were transported to area hospitals.
Spokesman for the Coast Guard said the ferry was involved in an accident in October 2003, when 11 people died and 42 were injured.
Before the accident, the captain had triggered the alarm that failed to reduce speed vessel and the crew tried to move passengers in the back of the ferry, which had a speed of 5 knots.
On board of the ferry there were 252 passengers and 18 crew members.
Five ferries carry about 65,000 passengers daily between Staten Island and the south of Manhattan. In about three hours after the accident, the ferry traffic had resumed and started running normally, says Telegraph.
