Nigerian President Yar’Adua has died
Umaru Yar’Adua died at the presidential residence after a long suffering, the BBC announces. Seven days of national mourning were declared by the authorities.
Shortly after learning the sad news, dozens of people passed by the presidential palace to bring a final tribute to the President. Nigerian leader withdrew from the political scene in November because of the heart problems he had started to experience.
For several months he was treated in Saudi Arabia but inlate February he returned home, but resumed its function. In January, in an interview for BBC Nigerian leader said that his health is better.
Meanwhile, Vice President Goodluck Jonathan has taken place at the head of the country.
Head of State will be buried in his native village in northern, Katsina.
Yar’Adua, 58 years old, came to power in 2007.
