Apple Event Confirmed for September 1st

Apple has already invited members of the press to come to a special event scheduled for Sept. 1.

It is said that Apple is ready to announce a major revamp for the Apple TV and upgrades for the popular iPod Touch in this event scheduled for early September.

The whole thing will kick off 10 a.m. at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts theater, where Apple has traditionally held its annual iPod event for several years.

Apple is also rumored to be introducing some new products along with a new iTunes rental service for TV programs.

It is more likely that Apple will release a software update for iPad customers, iOS4, to bring multitasking capability, among other features, to the popular tablet.

  • A new iPod touch, possible with a higher-res screen and one or two cameras
  • A new Apple TV, priced at $99 and built around iOS and the iTunes store
  • A 99-cent TV rental service, subject to the agreement of the TV studios
  • A cloud-based iTunes service that makes use of the new data center Apple has been building in North Carolina.
