Apple Event to take place in September
Apple emailed invitations to members of the press to its next event, scheduled for Sept. 1 at the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco.
The invitation includes a picture of a guitar with the Apple logo in the center. Moreover, Apple has traditionally held a September event related to updates of digital music and media players.
As usually, Apple is not disclosing information about the event, but rumors say that it will include an update to iPods, changes to iTunes and possibly a new type of Apple TV.
“From our checks with supply chain and industry sources, we believe potential changes could turn Apple TV into a bigger hobby and a multi-million unit seller,” Shaw Wu of Kaufman Bros. wrote.
- A new iPod touch, possible with a higher-res screen and one or two cameras
- A new Apple TV, priced at $99 and built around iOS and the iTunes store
- A 99-cent TV rental service, subject to the agreement of the TV studios
- A cloud-based iTunes service that makes use of the new data center Apple has been building in North Carolina.
