Moscow metro celebrates 75th anniversary
Russia celebrates today 75 years since the inauguration of the Moscow subway, and Muscovites can take a subway restaurant from 1930, reported Reuters.
The Civil Engineer Chief Alexei Kolesin said the most difficult task was the restoration of the train combining the retro look of the ’30s with the modern technical equipment designed to protect passengers.
“What can I say? It seems that the situation is improving. The attempts to do something good for people are clear,” couple living in the Russian capital declared for Reuters .
In the capital there are 180 subway stations and 12 lines with a total length of 298 kilometers.
For decades, many stations were decorated with sculptures, reliefs and marble walls that glorified the communist regime.
Currently, the Moscow authorities plan to build new plants and expand the underground transportation network.
