Cycling Doping Investigation May Expand
Federal authorities are considering whether they can expand the investigation beyond the traditional drug distribution charges to include others such as fraud and conspiracy.
The major question for the authorities is whether money from the United States Postal service, the main sponsor of the Armstrong’s team, was used to buy the performance enhancing drugs.
All the allegations about doping has repeatedly been denied by Armstrong. In e-mail messages sent by Landis to the top cycling officials, Landis said that he and Armstrong shared conversations about the need for blood doping.
He also witnessed Armstrong and some other Postal Service team members, receiving blood transfusions on a team bus during one Tour de France.
