Louisiana election results, Senator David Vitter wins primary
Louisiana Senator David Vitter has stamped off controversy to win the the GOP primary election. The Senator has faced a lot of problems off late, especially after it was revealed that he solicited call girls.
Senator Vitter had 90 percent of the votes while his rivals former state Supreme Court Justice Chet Traylor and Nick Accardo had were no where in the frame receiving less than 10%.
Senator Vitter will face off with Democratic Congressman Charlie Melancon in the general elections in a couple of months time. Melancon also had an easy win claiming nearly two-thirds of the ballot against Cary Deaton and Neeson Chauvin.
Following the win, Melancon thanked supporters saying ” Thanks to our many supporters for their hard work so far, and the Dem and ind. voters of LA who made this primary election victory possible.’
The general elections will be held on the 2nd of November 2010.
