Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete wins Miss Universe 2010
Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete becomes the new Miss Universe 2010 after beating out 82 competitors at the Las Vegas pageant.
The 22-year-old model claimed the title after impressed the audience by saying how important is it to teach kids family values.
The first runner-up was Miss Jamaica, Yendi Phillipps, followed by second runner-up Miss Australia, Jesinta Campbell.
When asked how she felt about unsupervised Internet use, Navarrete said the Internet is important but parents have to be careful and watch over their kids.
“I do believe that Internet is an indispensable, necessary tool for the present time. We must be sure to teach them the values that we learned as a family.”
Navarrete also talked about her parents at the news conference after the pageant.
“I want to give my parents a big hug. There was a lot of effort and a lot of sacrifice.”
