Volkswagen to acquire majority of Italdesign Giugiaro
At a press conference on Tuesday in Turin, Italy, Volkswagen group declared that it was buying the maximum stakes (90.1%) of the Italian design company, Italdesign. The Chariman of the board of management of Volkswagen said that the company will contribute to the global growth strategy of 2018 of the group.
Established by Aldo Mantovani and Giorgetto Giugiaro in 1968, Italdesign was called Italdesign-Giugiaro S.p.A. Volkswagen has consulted Italian design houses for the stylish Italian touch in their vehicles. Italdesign has collaborated with VW group for churning out models like Scirocco.
Italdesign’s contribution is considered inevitable for realizing the ambitious plans of VW, of producing more models and improving the sales.
