The heroine of Twilight and Obama – American top baby names
Last year, most newborn girls in the United States were named Emma.
This year, Isabella, the heroine of Twilight saga, is in the top preferences of parents, marking one of the most spectacular ascents, along with the name of U.S. President Barack Obama.
Thus, last year 22,000 girls were baptized Isabella.
Name of another hero of Twilight, Jacob remained for the eleventh consecutive year, the first in the preferences of parents, according to data published by the American authorities, quoted by CNN.
They have done an analysis which showed that in recent years, pop culture increasingly influences choice of the newborn names.
Not just the names of book and movie heroes are chosen by parents, but also those of politicians and members of their families.
