Catholic Church is losing Italians’ trust
Most Italians believe that Catholic priests should marry, while their confidence in the church is declining, according to the results of a poll published by La Repubblica, wrote timesonline.

The poll comes in the context of the Austrian Catholic bishops asking Pope Benedict XVI to open discussions about celibate priests.
Sunday, 200,000 Italians with banners and balloons filled St. Peter’s Square asking the pope to act together within the scandal of sexual abuse by Catholic priests against children in different European countries and the U.S..
Italians believe the Catholic Church has declined in recent seven years, a trend that has intensified with recent pedophilia scandals among clergy.
