Extensive use of solar energy in Spain
Two of the largest solar power stations are located near the Spanish city of Sevilla.
The largest of the two,PS20,an asset of the Solucar company is still being built. PS10, a little smaller already supplies electric energy to the local network.
Both stations work by filtrating the powerful sun light and heat characteristic for this area in a burning fascicle that boils water with the help of a quartz window, producing enough steam to activate a series of turbines.
Around 92% of the sun heat is directly transformed into electric energy and the amount of energy produced by this equipment-experts say- is so intense that it can separate the hydrogen molecules from water and therefore enable ecologic vehicles.
This type of energy is 3 times more expensive than the usual energy, but technology is permanently developing, therefore it will surely become cheaper in no time, along with the growing number of solar energy “plants”.
