Ballack misses the World Cup
Michael Ballack, Germany’s national team captain, will miss the World Cup tournament in South Africa because of an ankle injury, announced today the German Football Federation (DFB).
The 33-year-old German midfielder injured his right ankle during the FA Cup final, won by his team, Chelsea’s 1-0 score in front of Portsmouth on Saturday.
Ballack suffered a violent foul from his compatriot Kevin-Prince Boateng, in the first half of the game at Wembley.
After receiving care from the sidelines, he was replaced.
