Sri Lanka win Asia Cup for the 4th time
Sri Lanka won the final match in Asia Cup, against one of the strongest cricket teams in the world, India.
Played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, the match was won by Sri Lanka after Farveez Maharoof’s hat-trick and the batting exploits of Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene ensured that the local fans left the venue in high spirits.
Gambhir and Karthik added 58 runs in 11.2 overs before a moment of airborne brilliance broke the alliance. Gambhir tried to swat Mathews and the shot was cut in mid-flight as Suraj Randiv dived to his right and froze the ball.
The match changed drastically when at 189 for four, India lost four wickets on the same score starting with Dhoni’s run out as he failed to beat Kapugedara’s throw.
