The Russian who spied for the U.S. was arrested

Accused of treason and cooperation with the  U.S. military intelligence,Guennadi Sipatchev was  sentenced to four years in prison by a Moscow court today   AFP reported, quoting Russian news agencies.

Sipatchev was convicted because he provided maps to help locate military targets in Russia to the U.S. Department two years ago, according to ITAR-TASS.

Sipatchev collaborated with Russian Security Services during the trial, so he dropped down to only four years of prison.

“The defendant actively cooperated with investigators, which led to the detection of crimes committed by other people and allowed us to avoid further leaks that would have affected Russia’s security,” was the verdict given by the court and quoted by Ria Novosti .
