Gamer stabs rival who killed his avatar

Julien Barreaux, 20, spent 7months tracking down the rival player who killed his avatar in a virtual reality knife fight in the game Counter-Strike, the Telegraph newspaper reports.

He eventually found his victim, named only as Mikhael, living several kilometers from his own home in the town of Cambria, in northern France.

Police told the local court that Barreaux went to the man’s home and stabbed him in the chest when he answered the door.

His victim barely survived the attack, with the blade of the kitchen knife missing his heart by just centimeters.
