May 9th a landmark in the automobile history
60 years ago the SEAT brand was created. Launched by the Italians, but perfected by the Germans, SEAT has become today the Latin expression of Spain combined with the special touch of German engineering.
May 9, 1950 – Sociedad Española de Automóviles de Turismo, or the Spanish SEAT manufacturer celebrates its official date of birth today, on May 9th.
The Spanish company founded in partnership with Fiat in the early years the automobiles manufactured differed from those made by the Italians only in terms of brand.
From 1953 until now, SEAT has produced over 16 million cars and now from Martorell plant, near Barcelona, every day 2,000 new models leave the production lines. Two thirds of the production is exported,to the over 3,000 dealers SEAT has in the 72 countries where it operates.
