Pompidou satellite museum opens in France

French President Nicolas Sarkozy will open in Metz in northeastern France, a new head of the National Center for Art and Culture Georges Pompidou, the BBC reported.

It is for the first time the famous cultural institution is venturing outside Paris.

The new headquarters, designed by Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines, is nothing  like “big brother” of the French capital, although you will have access to its huge art collection.

The French government is convinced that such cultural projects can revitalize the economy of the country’s various provinces.

Exhibition opening of the new center will include works by Georges Braque, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock and Joan Miro.

In two years, the Louvre Museum  will open an office outside Paris, Lens, which is currently facing serious financial problems due to the global crisis.
