Mass grave of Albanians found in Serbia
A new mass grave containing the bodies of 250 Kosovo Albanians was discovered in Serbia, said Serbian prosecutor in charge of war crimes, according to BBC.
He believes that the victims were killed during the conflict in 1998-1999, when Serbian forces fought ethnic Albanian rebels in Kosovo.
The common grave was discovered in the town of Raska, near the border with Kosovo.
Prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic said it will take a few days until they begin exhumation.
“This is yet another proof that Serbia does not hide her dark past and is prepared to bring to justice those who committed crimes,” he said, quoted by AFP.
Such graves were found before in Serbia.
Four police officers were convicted in 2009 for killing 50 Albanian civilians in 1999.
According to the BBC there are still 1,200 people missing since the war.
