The car-leaf that consumes carbon dioxide and provides oxygen

SAIC-GM Hall, the Shanghai World Expo in 2010, proposes a future city where vehicles will travel bionic, taking their energy from the air.

The most spectacular exhibit of the Shanghai World Expo is a bionic vehicle made by General Motors (GM) and Shanghai Automotive Industry Company (SAIC).

YeZ named, after the Chinese word “leaf”, the future vehicle would behave exactly like a leaf:  absorbing carbon dioxide and providing oxygen!

The car made by GM-SAIC partnership is considered a vehicle of the future, expected to be widely used only after 20 years. Therefore, manufacturers are content to present the prototype, without providing  technical specification, however.

In order to capture energy, solar minipanouri are placed on the hood of the leaf and small wind turbines are installed on the wheel. The energy captured is stored in lithium-ion batteries, which provide a good vehicle autonomy.
