Golden facial masks – shimmering or damaging?

Costing around a hundred dollars, 24 karat gold facials are advocated by many cosmetics executives as anti-aging, anti-acne, anti-inflammatory and non-toxic.

Many cosmetic companies sell them as microscopic particles suspended in liquid called colloid. De Luisa La Rocca who founded La Rocca Skin care says, “gold flecks make skin look pretty”.

Contrarily, dermatologists have a different opinion and they declare that gold hurts skin and causes inflammations. Dr. Judith Hellman, a New York City dermatologist avers that “at best, they do nothing”.

Though, the cosmetic firms cite proprietary research that explicates the benefits of gold face cream and facial, the debate still continues.
