King Juan Carlos of Spain undergoes surgery
72 year old King Juan Carlos of Spain has undergone today a surgery for the removal of a lung nodule in a hospital in Barcelona, according to Royal House, Le Nouvel Observateur says.
The medical problem was discovered at the end of last month, on April 28th. The nodule was 19 to 12 mm and was located in the upper lobe of the right lung.
Physician surgical team was led by Laureano Molins Lopez-Rodo. Doctors give assurances that the prognosis is positive and that the king’s life is out of danger, according to El Pais.
Juan Carlos appeared in public yesterday and seemed in perfect health condition. King received at Zarzuela Palace the U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, in an official visit in Spain.
Last year the medical examination undergone by King Juan Carlos, took place on the 16th and 17th of April in the Planas Clinic of Barcelona. “The results were fully satisfactory”, said then the representatives of the Royal Family.
Juan Carlos was proclaimed King of Spain on November 22, 1975, two days after the death of Francisco Franco.
