Ohio tornado kills 7, destroys homes
A devastating tornado has transformed Ohio, Illinois and Michigan into a war zone, after killing at least seven people and destroying hundreds of homes.
But the worst took place seven-mile strip south east of Toledo in Ohio, where the tornado wrecked vehicles, splintered wood and family possessions.
The storm didn’t miss the school, two buses being tossed on their sides and another thrown 50 yards, landing on its top close to the high school’s football field. The school board president said there was only one victim, the father of the class valedictorian.
At least 50 homes were destroyed and another 50 severely damaged, as well as six commercial buildings.
More than 30 people in the Toledo area were injured and taken to hospital. Two adults and two children in critical condition, said Mercy Hospital system spokeswoman Gloria Enk.
