Can K-9 experienced Post Traumatic Stress Disorder?
Gina, a playful 2-year old German shepherd, was sent to Iraq to serve as a highly trained bomb-sniffing dog. She was with the military and has been conduction door to door sniffing search and also having been able to witness all sort of explosions.
After her service, she returned home with feelings of fear.
According to her handlers, when they would take Gina to a building or anywhere, her legs would stiffen as if some sort of having fear and resistance. She would sometimes hide under the furniture to avoid people.
Gina was then diagnosed by a military veterinarian that she is experiencing post traumatic stress disorder.
A condition that mostly affects human and now can affect animals most especially dogs.
