Bhardwaj demonstrated the process of EVM tampering and took a dig at BJP, saying that they left engineering because of the saffron party and compelled to return to engineering because of them. He claimed the EVM machines can be tampered with easily and proved it by demonstrating a mock test on the machine. Bhardwaj claimed that before voting begins the election officials show that everything is done fairly but after 10 am, they activate the code, which ensures that all votes cast thereafter would go to a particular candidate. Maken said, adding, "The AAP lost deposit in Rajouri by-polls where VVPAT and paper-trail was used".
He said Bharadwaj, an engineer, had shown how chip technology could be manipulated and how EVMs could be tampered with. With elections in Gujarat slated for the end of 2017, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said if allowed, the AAP would be able to show how EVMs are "hacked".
AAP MLA and computer engineer Saurabh Bhardwaj carried out the demonstration, insisting that the BJP has been gaining due to EVM rigging.

In a statement, the EC said: "Very simply put, any "lookalike" machine is just a different gadget, which is manifestly designed and made to function in a "tampered" manner and has no relevance, incidence or be-aring on the commission's EVMs".
The AAP leader said the EC's inquiry report into allegations of EVM tampering in the assembly elections held this year had not explained anything.
The Election Commission, which maintains that EVMs can not be programmed to favour any party, did not officially react.
At the special Delhi Assembly session convened by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj gave a live demo on how EVMs can be rigged.
He said in his tweet that by raising these issues Kejriwal was trying to divert public attention from both governance-failure and corruption. "In 90 seconds the motherboard can be changed", he said.
Sacked Delhi water minister Kapil Mishra spoke against his party on the EVM tampering issue, accusing Kejriwal of adopting this tactic to shift the people's attention from the corruption charges levelled against him. EC sources on Tuesday too said an ECI-EVM is one which remains in the security zone of ECI. It flayed Kejriwal for not replying to the corruption charges. It is unsafe for the democracy and the country, and people should raise their voice against it.
