Developed using Facebook's newly announced rich gameplay features for Instant Games, Words With Friends pairs the beloved gameplay of one of the world's most popular word games with the global, social connection on Messenger and Facebook.
Among the first games to receive the support for rich gameplay features is Zynga's Words With Friends.
During its recent F8 conference, Facebook announced a slew of "rich gameplay features" that will soon come to every game, such as game bots, leaderboards, and turn-based gameplay.
The new Instant Games on Messenger will roll out over the next few weeks worldwide for both iOS and Android starting today. Facebook is using the ease of multiplayer and competitive play enabled by Messenger's social links to promote Instant Games to users. Once the Games section is opened, you'll find plenty of titles to choose from, all of which can be played against a friendly opponent.
When game developers start adapting the rich gameplay features, they will be able to create turn-based games, leaderboards and tournaments within the game.

According to Facebook, developers are free to build bots to enhance their games in new and inventive ways, so it'll be interesting to see how they take to it.
There is a slate of new features to be part of Instant Games in the Messenger platform.
The most awesome features among all these are to provide the ability to play turn-based games.
"We're proud to be one of the first gaming companies innovating on the Instant Games platform, delivering an immersive Words With Friends experience on Messenger to word fans everywhere", said Vaibhav Sahgal, vice president of games for Zynga, in a statement. None of the games require a separate app download and can all be launched directly from Facebook's mobile chat app. Depending on a user's device and location, there will be up to fifty games available on Messenger.
