Two people were killed and 30 others went missing after a footbridge they were standing on collapsed in western Indian state of Goa, officials said Friday. At least fourteen people were rescued from drowning and the rescue operation at site has been stopped.
"So far one body has been fished out", Mr. Savaikar said.
Indian Navy divers and lifeguards from the Drishti Lifeguard services, who provides lifeguards for the state's beaches, were called for the rescue operation. The fire and emergency services has begun the search operation. The exact number of persons missing is still not known.

There were reports that a person has jumped from the bridge in a suicide attempt and people rushed on the bridge when the old bridge, which was closed for vehicles, collapsed.
